Nickolas P. Kazakos, 62, passed away on Thursday. April 15, 1999. Mr. Kazakos, who was affectionately known as "Mr. Nick", touched the lives of many throughout his life. In addition to serving in the United States Army and working in real estate, insurance and automobile sales, he is best remembered for his special love of working with children. Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, just blocks away from Wrigley Field, "Mr. Nick" married his loving wife, Amelia in 1968. Together they raised two children, Angela (New Orleans) and Christopher (Pensacola). Other survivors include his mother-in-law, Andree Poulos (Pensacola) and his brothers-in-law, Tom Poulos (Minneapolis, MN) and John Poulos (Portland, OR). Amelia, Angela and Chris would like to give special thanks to their family, their many wonderful and generous friends, the Bunko gals, Hospice, Dr. William Whibbs, Dr. Norman Haines, and all of the other doctors and staff of Sacred Heart Hospital for their excellent care and thoughtful prayers. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. in the Greek Orthodox Church with Rev. Theodore Chelpon officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery with Waters & Hibbert Funeral Home, directing. Active pallbearers will be Butch Stough, Bill Markopoulos, Peter Booth, Rick Miles, Vic Glannini, Don Retondo, Jim Chase and Greg Burge. Friends may call at Waters & Hibbert Sunday, 5-7 p.m. and the Trisigion services will be held at 7 p.m., Sunday at Waters & Hibbert. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kazakos Children Agape Fund at the AmSouth Bank. |
