KEERAN CHESTER WILLIS 1919-1998 Reverend Keeran Chester Willis, 78, of Pensacola, FL died Friday, January 30, 1998, in a local hospital. Rev. Willis was born in Corpus Christi, TX on November 2, 1919. He was predeceased in death by his parents, David and Ola Baker Willis. He was a veteran of four and a half years of service in the U. S. Army as a Private in Field Artillery, tanks. Rev. Willis graduated from Arkansas College and Columbia Seminary in Decatur, Georgia. On September 6, 1952, Keeran married Katie Lucille Horne in the Decatur Presbyterian Church in Decatur, Georgia. The new minister and his wife, Katie, moved to the Presbyterian manse in Geneva, AL and held his first service on Sunday, June 14, 1953 at 11:00 A.M. and in the Hartford Presbyterian church on the same date at 7:00 P.M. He served his ministry in the states of Alabama, North Carolina, and Florida. He was at the Troy, Alabama church for many years. He was a Mason and York Rite member. He is survived by his wife, Katie Horne Willis; a sister, Ann Frank of Waco, TX; a brother and sister-in-law, Col. W.B. and Marjorie Willis of Austin, TX; a nephew, Steve Willis of Houston, TX; a great niece and and great nephew. A memorial service will be at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 3, 1998 in the First Presbyterian Church, Pensacola, Florida. Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel is in charge of arrangerments. Contributions may be made the the First Presbyterian Church. |
