Charles Clarence Porras was born in Pensacola on February 16, 1926. He passed peacefully from this earth on February 10, 2016. He served honorably in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Porras retired from the City of Pensacola in 1982. He was a lover of beautiful things. His greatest passion was buying and selling antiques. Also, Mr. Porras gave freely of his talents decorating and arranging flowers for family members and friends. He was a true gentleman with a quick wit and many entertaining quotes.
Mr. Porras is survived by his brother, Johnny (Joyce) Porras; cousins: Joan Hobson and Gordon (Peggy) Couch; cousins-in-law: Aileen Liberis and Betty Couch; and nieces and nephews: Kathy (Bill) Winter; Joni (Bill) Pierce; Chuck (Kay) Capps; Nilo (Sandra) Porras; Linda Hobson'- Ward; Paige Cary; Ross (Clara) Margaret Capps; and Kacey (Michael) Cilimberg. Additionally, he leaves behind adored friends: Irene Faulk and Rose Thames. Mr. Porras' parents, George and Georgia Porras and his sister, Dorothy Capps, preceded him in death.
Pallbearers will be Chuck Capps, Ross Capps, Clyde Johnson, Bill Pierce, Nilo Porras, and Bill Winter.
Visitation will be at the Waters and Hibbert Funeral Home on Monday, February 15,, 12 - 2 pm. Funeral services will begin at 2 pm. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery. Father Matthew Carter will be officiating.
