Mr. John T. Stanton Jr., 87, of the Pensacola community, was taken home to our Lord on Tuesday January 26, 2016. He was born in Pensacola Fl., on May 20, 1929; son of the late John Thomas and Nellie Mae (Wilson) Stanton Sr. He is the beloved husband of Joan Frances(Koehler) Stanton, who were married the 9th of March, 1956.
John served his country in the United States Air Force and his community through commitment to various youth organizations, the Masonic order, and the Escambia County Sheriff's department as a reserve deputy wherein he held the rank of lieutenant. John attended the University of Florida and is a graduate of the University of West Florida. Elder John T. Stanton Jr.'s faithfulness was exemplified by his lifelong commitment to the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, his family and his beloved wife. He enjoyed, camping, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Juanita (Stanton) Livingston and grandson Christopher Scott Stewart.
Survivors include: his wife Joan; sister Doris Trout, daughters, Cyndi K. McNabb (son n law-Jackson), Joy D. Rice (son n law -Jim) and Susan J. Peaden (son n law - Dale); daughter in laws, Debra Stanton and Maryann Stanton; sons, John T. Stanton III and James D. Stanton, Sr.; and all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 30th, 2016 at the Faith Chapel Funeral Home (South), with Pastor Dale Gilmore officiating. Burial will follow at the St. John's Cemetery in Pensacola. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
