George Stone Hallmark was born April 15, 1846 in Rockford, Alabama, the son of Alfred George Hallmark and Mary Jane Balger. He was a member of the Escambia County School Board, and the "George S. Hallmark School" was named in his honor. On April 21, 1866 in Escambia County, George Hallmark was married to Lelia White. George and Lelia Hallmark were the parents of five known children: Harry Howard (1869-1949); married Caroline Tuston), George Chaffee (1872-1960; married Eva Dorothea Pfeiffer), Lelia (1873-1948; married Arthur Oliver), Lena Mai (1878-1926; married Frank Radcliffe), and Daisy Delle Hallmark. Lived in North Hill Pensacola. Went to Christ Church. Judge George Stone Hallmark died July 12, 1906. From the News Tuesday September 13, 1906: " George Chafee Hallmark, 88...for city councilman...survivors: three daughter: Mrs. F.E. Durham, Mrs. J.T. Wilson and Mrs. T.B. Campbell, all of Pensacola; two sons: George S. Hallmark and Chafee M. Hallmark, both of Pensacola...Fisher-Pou directing." He is buried next to his wife Lelia Ann White Hallmark, and their daughter Daisy Delle Hallmark. | |
