Franklin P. Messer was born June 2, 1882 Florida. He is listed in the 1900 census as a Private stationed at Fort Barrancas with the First Artillery, Company H, 21 years old, born in June 1878 in Florida. He is listed in the 1917 Draft as Franklin Pierce Messer, born June 2, 1879. Also listed in draft is Dempsy Tomaso Messer, born April 20, 1882. Franklin married Ruby Florence Howes. Franklin and Ruby Messer are listed in the 1920 and 1930 census of Pensacola. From census, Frank Messer claimed he was born in Florida, with his parents born in Canada. The known children of Frank and Ruby were: Virginia B. (1905-1912), Minnie M. (b.ca1907 FL), Oscar M. (1908-1912), Jewell B. (b.ca1909 FL), and Franklin S. Messer (b.ca1913 FL).
