* George Reese moved to Pensacola just before the Civil War. He was a member of First Presbyterian. "He was one of the first members to volunteer when the Pensacola Guards were organized...Later he was attached to the 42nd AL Regiment, and was engaged in many battles...." He was member of the Guards when it took the navy yard in 1861. He was 72 and had caught a cold at the funeral of Mrs. Boykin Jones. Their were four survivors: Son, J.S. Reese, president of the People's Bank. Son, E.E. Reese, president of the Gulf Machine Works. Two daughters. Buried in St. John's. Photo in paper. |
