Gwendolyn Brigman Rogers, 82, of Pensacola died Thursday morning, November 28, 1991. Mrs. Rogers was a native and lifelong resident of Pensacola, and was the widow of the late Dr. E.C. Rogers. She was a member of the Gadsden Street United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and held many offices in the local Methodist churches and the United Methodist Conference. She taught Sunday School for 50 years until her illness. She was a graduate of Florida State College for Women and taught in junior and senior high schools in Escambia County. She was very active in local and state PTA activities, an active Girl Scout leader and member of the Violet Garden Club. She served as co-chairman of the first Mother's March of Dimes in Pensacola. Survivors include her daughter, Doris Rogers Collins; a son, E.C. "Butch" Rogers, Jr.; a sister, Carol Brigman Hall; five grandchildren, Deanie Roberds Singleterry, Cyndi Roberds Herman, Angela Roberds Crenshaw, Shelldy Rogers and Shane Rogers; and five great-grandchildren. Services will be conducted a 2 p.m., Saturday in the Gadsden Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Dickerson officiating. Mrs. Rogers will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday. Pallbearers will be Shane Rogers, Wes Singleterry, Richard Crenshaw, Jeral Smithgall and John Baldwin. |
