William was a known Pensacola teacher, assistant principal and Superintendent of Public Instruction in Escambia County. Mr. Tyler came to Pensacola in 1910. On January 9, 1904, Mr. Tyler married Pearl Taulbee of Kentucky. They were the parents of five known children: Bishop, Mabel, Virginia (1910-1984, married Adraian Langford, buried 3-35), Marjorie (married Henry G. Baars, lot 2-15) and Rosa Tyler (married Robert James). The Tyler family were members of Gadsden Street Methodist Church. William Thomas Tyler died July 30, 1969. From Journal Friday August 1: “William Tyler, 91, former city councilman and school superintendent, died Wednesday…native of Campton, Kentucky… resident since 1910...survivors: three daughters, Mrs. Virginia Langford and Mrs. Henry Baars Jr. of Pensacola, and Mrs. Mollie Truman of West Virginia; brother Charles C. Tyler of Missouri; three grandchildren…McNeil Funeral Home directing.” He is buried next to his wife Pearl Dell Tyler (one stone), son Hugh Bishop Tyler, and sister-in-law Maggie Dale Taulbee. |
