Jan Faye Fleming Bemiss, age 54, was called home on Wednesday, October 22,
2008.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Bemiss; her mother, Selma
E. Goelz Fleming; and her grandparents, Lloyd and Ethel Fleming, and Dr. W.C.
and Elaine Goelz.
Survivors include her father, Lloyd L. Fleming Jr.; step mother, Claire Fleming;
sister, Marianne Taylor and her husband Dean; aunt and "2nd momma", Faye
Turner; nephews, Lloyd H. Taylor, Leslie K. Taylor and his wife, Sara; great
niece, Cambria Leslie Taylor; and many other aunts, uncles, cousins, and long
time friends who offered much loving support and concern over the years.
Mrs. Bemiss was born December 30, 1953. She graduated from Pensacola High
School in 1972. She attended Pensacola Junior College and an FSU summer
course. Mrs. Bemiss also attended one year at the Daytona Technical School for
the Blind for Medical Transcriptionist. She worked at St. Luke's Hospital in
Jacksonville, Florida for five years. Mrs. Bemiss was a member of the Gulf
Breeze church of Christ.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 24, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Waters
& Hibbert Funeral Home with Chris Pinney, the minister of the Gulf Breeze
church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Visitation will be
at Waters and Hibbert Funeral Home from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October
24, 2008.
Pallbearers are Mike Graham, Philip McKee, Bill Callis, Matt McReynolds, Brian
Nelson, and Quentin Trumpore.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Gulf Breeze church of
Christ, P.O. Box 148, Gulf Breeze, FL 32562.
Our deepest love and gratitude to our church family at Gulf Breeze church of
Christ for your continual love, compassion, and support.
Love and appreciation to Susan Pelletier, LPN, for being on call for my family
24/7 when you were needed most.
Special thanks to Sacred Heart Medical Hematology and Oncology and
Pensacola Radiation Oncology staff and volunteers for being like family for the
last 3 and a half years showing love, concern, and care. Deep appreciation to Dr.
Mark Boatright and Bruce Mclennan and their nurses for their compassionate
care and professional expertise. Very special thanks to Hillary for the endless
hours she spent answering questions and taking care of insurance issues.
Our heartfelt appreciation to the Covenant Hospice nurses and staff on the third
floor of WFH for their personal touch of compassion, concern, and gentleness
during a very difficult time in our lives.
