Dea. Edmond Samuel Jenkins, 86 of Pensacola departed this life on January 2, 1998 following a long term illness.  Dea. Jenkins was born September 25, 1911, to Edmond G. Jenkins and Louie Peterman Jenkins in Columbus, GA.  He completed Columbus Public Schools and began working for Pilgrim Life Insurance Company as an agent.  Dea. Jenkins  left Columbus to further his education in New York City, where he worked at NY Telephone Company and retired from there after 30 years of service.  Throughout his years, Dea. Jenkins was active in many Christian and civic organizations, including superintendent of Sunday School at St. Matthew Church in NYC, a Deacon at Greater Shady Grove Baptist Church in Columbus, and most recently, head of the Deacon Board at Metropolitan Baptist Church in Pensacola.  Dea. Jenkins leaves to mourn his loss, his beloved wife Mrs. Grace Elizabeth Williams Jenkins, one sister, Mrs. Mildred Kirby of Golumbus, GA; three nieces, Gwendolyn Machua of Syracuse, NY, Grace Rogers of Minneapolis and Russella (Donald) Pettway of Atlanta, GA; one nephew, Rufus Edmond Hill, Chicago; two great nieces and two great nephews; God Daughters, Maria E. Whiting of Tallahassee, Blanche (Richard) Taylor of Pensacola; and a host of cousins and friends.  Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 7, 1998 at Metropolitan Baptist Church with Rev. Dave Thomas officiating.  Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.  Joe Morris and Son Funeral Home, is in charge of arrangements.  Friends may call at Joe Morris Chapel from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday.
