Alex E. Merchant, 84, of Pensacola died Saturday, October 14, 1995.  Mr. Merchant was employed by Pensacola Glass Co. for 46 years.  He was a veteran of World War II, was a member of Escambia Masonic Lodge No. 15, Hadji Shrine Temple and was a Scottish Rite Mason.  Survivors include his wife, LaVerne Merchant; son, Jim Leath and his wife, Susan; grandchildren, Eric and Nikki Leath; two sisters; a brother; and a number of nieces and nephews.  He will be remembered and loved by his family, many friends and neighbors.  Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Mark Cooley officiating.  Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery with Masonic services at the graveside.  Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.  Friends may call at the funeral home 5 to 7 p.m. Monday.
