James Alfred "Jack" Odom, Jr., 73, of Pensacola, died Wednesday, September 9, 1998 at a local hospital.  Mr. Odom was a life long resident of Pensacola.  He was of the Church of Christ Faith.  He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict, serving in the U.S. Navy.  He was retired from the Pensacola Police Department and Escambia County Sheriff's Department with 43 years of service.  He was a member of Masonic Lodge #310, Scottish Rite, the Hadji Shrine Temple, Royal Order of Moose, and the American Legion Post 240.  He was a charter member of the Sheriff's Posse and served in the Escambia County Sheriff's Deputy Reverve.  Survivors include Jack's significant other, Sandy Bergman; son, James A. Odom, III; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Ron Seale, Tammie and Jimmy Kirkland; four grandchildren, Jeremy, Karl, Mary Anne and James, former wife and mother of his children, Evelyn Odom; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth Bruguiere, Patricia Faye Leatherwood, Louise and Wallace Henderson, Thelma and Sam Myers; a number of nieces and nephews, other relative and a host of friends.  Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, September 12, 1998 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home with Lewis Ross of Gateway Church of Christ officiating.  Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery w/graveside service by Honor Guards from Pensacola Police Department and Escambia County Sheriff's Office.  Pallbearers will be Chief of Police, Norman Chapman, Asst. Chief, Jerry Potts, Lt. Windell Rich, Deputy Sam Guthrie, Deputy David Kee, Deputy Bob Faught.  Honorary pallbearers will be Honorable Judge, William Anderson, Honorable Judge, Terry Terrell,Steve Powell, Manford Krause, Kenny Higdon, and a host of law enforcement and Masonic brothers.  Faith Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.  Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:30-8:00 p.m., Friday.
