Richard E.  Patterson, 80, of Pensacola died Friday, May 12, 1995.  Mr. Patterson was  a native of Murfreesboro, TN, and moved to Pensascola at an early age.  He attended Pensacola High School and Suwannee Military Academy and while living in Pensacola worked with his family in the lumber business.  He later moved to Virginia Beach, VA, where he retired from civil service.  He returned to Pensacola in 1989 where he was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church.  Survivors include his wife, Vera K. Patterson of Pensacola; four sons, Frazier Patterson of Jacksonville, Dean Patterson II of Dallas, Gorrell Patterson III of Virginia Beach and Michael K. Patterson of Asheville, NC; two daughters, Robin Jarrett of Highland, NC and Vera P. Callaghan of  Pensacola; a brother, Gorrell Patterson, Jr., of North Augusta,SC, a sister-in-law, Mrs. Julian Patterson of Birmingham, AL; 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren.  The prayers of the Rosary and the Funeral Mass will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 16, 1995, in the Holy Spirit Catholic Church with Monseignor James Gallager and Monseignor James Amos as celebrants.  Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.  Memorial Services Corporation D/B/A/ Casket Galleria And Traditional Alternatives is in charge of arrangements.  The family has requested no visitation and that flowers be omitted.  Contributions in memory of Mr. Patterson may be made to Hospice of Northwest Florida, the American Cancer Society or to the Holy Spirit Building Fund.
