Miss Frances "Aunt Fran" Petros 1923-2002, 79, was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, Oct. 4, 2002 at a local hospital.  She was born June 13, 1923 in St. Louis, MO to Steve Petros and Bessie Lambropoulous Petros.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Pete Petros and sister-in-law, Constance Petros.  She was a loving sister, aunt, and friend.  She was active in many organizations and a member of the Greek Orthodox Church.  Aunt Fran worked for Republic Pictures in St. Louis where she had an exciting life working with movie stars.  Then she moved to Pensacola and worked for NAS in computers.  She finally moved to Baptist hospital where she retired after 20 years of service.  She is survived by one sister, Stella Varazo of Winston-Salem, NC; three nieces, Bette Phillips, (and Brittany Sue, Bett's loving cocker spaniel) of Pensacola, Andree Konstantopoulos and husband Mike and Steffie Joiner and husband Pat, all of Winston-Salem, NC, two great nieces, Joanne and Michelle Konstantopoulos and one great nephew, Gregory Joiner; two godsons, Jason Pulos of St. Louis, MO and Constantine Varazo of Atlanta, GA.  She also had a host of cousins and friends in St. Louis, Pensacola and Winston-Salem whom she loved dearly.  Family and friendships were the most important things in her life.  A true sesquipedalian, she had a passion for books and reading.  To quote Thomas Jefferson, she believed one should "Read good books because they will encourage as well as direct your feelings."  You may greet the family at the Waters & Hibbert Funeral Home Sun from 5:30-6:30 p.m. with the Trisagion at 6:30 p.m. officiated by Father Andrew Scordalakis.  Funeral will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Greek Orthodox Church.  Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery with Waters & Hibbert directing.  Active Pallbearers will be Jim Joiner, Jason Pulos, Sava Varazo, Joe Pollard, John Chestnut and Anthony Tampary.  Honorary Pallbearers will be John Pulos, Gus Pulos, George Bokas, Yves Capel, Fotios Bokas, Manuel Sfanos, and Nick Varazo.  Memorials may be made to "Friends of the Library".  The family extends a special thanks to the nurses and staff of Specialty Center of Pensacola and CCu Nurses of Baptist Hospital and four west nurses.
