Robert Harold "Shorty" Sherman, 76, of Pensacola, died Saturday, August 12, 2000 at a local hospital.  Mr. Sherman was a member of St. Stephens Catholic Curch.  He was retired from NAS, Pensacola after 30 years service.  He was an avid fan of UWF Baseball and Softball teams, where he was voted #1 fan by the Lady Argonauts.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Martha Clementine Jensen.  Survivors include his daughter, Roberta Ward and son-in-law, Henry C. Mandel; two step-sons, Bill Middlebrooks; three grandchildren, Kiesha and Nathan Ward and Billy Middlebrooks III; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Donald Wilson; numerous nieces, nephew, and other relatives and a host of friends, including many at Marina Oyster Barn.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 16, 2000 at St. Stephens Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Hector R.G. Perez S.T.D. officiating.  Pallbearers will be Nathan Ward, Billy Middlebrooks III, Joe McGhee, Bobby Sasser and Steve Hobbs.  Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby LaBounty, Jack Young, Frank Cagle, Dwight O-Malley Morrow, Jerry Hattaway, Pat Gonzalez and Billy Brooks.  Faith Chapel Funeral Home, 100 Beverly Parkway, is in charge of arrangements.  Friends may call at Faith Chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday with rosary at 5 p.m.  -Pensacola News Journal 8/15/2000.
