Doyle Smith, 85, of Pensacola, died Wednesday, January 24, 2001 at a local nursing home.  Mr. Smith was a native of Anderson, South Carolina and had been a resident of Pensacola since 1940.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II.  Following World War II he served in the U.S. Navy.  Mr. Smith was an employee of the City of Pensacola, retiring after 24 years of service.  Upon his retirement from the City, he went to work at the Brownsville Shoe Shop, where he worked for 10 years.  Survivors include his daughter, Patricia Murphy and husband, Harry and Linda Hagren and husband, Tom; grandchildren, Rodger Smith and Thomas Hagren; and great-grandchildren, Brandi and Austin Smith.  Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, January 27, 2001 at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel.  Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Bo Bishop, John Evans, Myron Lewis, Alex Thomas, Mark Murphy and Larry Grecu.  Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel, 3351 Scenic Highway, is in charge of arrangements.  The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 a.m. Saturday.  The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Rosewood Manor Nursing Facility for all of the love and support.
