Owen M. "Toby" Ward, 76, of Pensacola, died at home Saturday, January 20, 2001 of cancer.  He fought a good fight.  Toby was born January 19, 1925 in San Diego, Calif.  He moved to Pensacola shortly thereafter.  He graduated from Pensacola High School in 1942.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.  He graduated from Auburn University with a degree in machanical engineering.  He was a member of Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity.  Upon graduation, he worked in the family tugboat business, A.P. Ward & Son.  Toby was vice-president of operations at Brown Marine Towing Co. until 1994, later working for Florida Marine Transporters and thereafter at Brown Marine until his retirement in June 2000.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Asa P. and Eula Mae Ward; and his loving wife, Glenda.  He is survived by four children: sons, Sean A. Ward (Jennifer) of Pensacola and Dennis M. Cooper of Jay; daughters Denise M. Whitfield (Doug) of Pensacola and Donna L. Hutto (Leonard) of Austin, Texas; 10 grandchildren, Hayden, Jessica, Justin, Rhiannon, Jill, Crystal, Matt, Amber, Ashley, and Rachael; and one great-grandchild, Bailey.  Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 24, 2001 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home with Father Bob Graves officiating.  Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery, G Street.  Pallbearers will be Justin Cooper, Jack Emory Coppenger, Chuck, Joe and John Hartley, Robert McLemore and John Warfield.  Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Brown Marine Towing Co.  Faith Chapel Funeral Home, 100 Beverly Pkwy, is in charge of arrangements.  The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Faith Chapel.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of NW Florida, 2001 N. Plalfox St., Pensacola, FL 23501.  The family wishes to thank all nurses in CNAs who attended Mr. Ward, in particular, Carol, Priscilla and Joyce.
