Fred Herbert Winkler,  Professor Emeritus of History at the University of Idaho, died Thursday, May 2, 1996 in Moscow, Idaho at the age of 72.  He graduated from Pensacola High School in 1941, completed his B.A. and M.A. at the University of Florida and received his Ph.D. from Northwestern University.  He is survived by cousins in Florida and Georgia.  Graveside services were held Tuesday in St. John's Cemetery.  Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
