Elizabeth Whiting Cary Sanchez, 98, of Pensacola, passed away, Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at The Haven of Our Lady of Peace.  Born in Pensacola, she was the daughter of Richard Miles Cary and Mary Ethel Wright Cary.  She was predeceased by her parents, two brothers, Richard Miles Cary and George A. Cary, her sister, Margaret Cary Davis and her beloved husband, David Lozano-Sanchez.  She is survived by her brother, Henry H. Cary; her nieces, Judith Davis Kuncas, Winifred Davis Bonney, Margaret Cary Biggs Beckman, Marianne Cary Beckman, Margaret Davis Martin and Mary Randolph Cary; her nephews, William V. Davis III and John W. Cary.  Except for several years in El Paso, Texas and Juarez, Mexico, she was a life-long resident of Pensacola.  She was educated in the public schools of  Pensacola and was a high school graduate of the Visitation Convent in Mobile.  Her last years were lived as a fortunate resident of The Have of Our Lady of Peace.  Elizabeth Sanchez was a person of many interests and talents.  Her paintings are treasured by those lucky enough to have one or two.  She played the organ at the Haven every day and she wrote beautiful poetry.  She read such magazines as the National Geographic, Smithsonian, Yankee and Guideposts.  She kept copious notes in Gregg Shorthand. Her family thanks all the kind people at both the Haven of Our Lady of Peace and Covenant Hospice for the excellent and thoughtful care they gave her.  Her family would also like to thank Dr. Casey and his staff for their friendship and care.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael's Catholic Church on Friday, May 22, 2009, at 9:30 a.m., with Father Peter McLaughlin as celebrant.  Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to St. Michael's Catholic Church, 19 North Palafox Street.
