Max Johnson Payne, 77, passed away suddenly on Thursday, May 25, 2000 after a brief illness.  Mr. Payne was a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Army Air Corps and was honorably discharged.  He worked in retail sales and retired from Western Auto.  He was a faithful member of the Elks Lodge #2108, Warrington, for 25 years.  He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, "Herky" and Helen Payne of Knoxville, TN; sister-in-law, Louise L. Payne of Pensacola;; his nephews and their spouses; Edward and Melissa Higgins and Harold and Vivian Payne all of Pensacola, Jason and Christy Payne Knoxville and Leslie Payne of Houston, TX; niece, Kimberly Barber and nephew, Timothy Bush. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, May 29, 2000 at Faith Chapel Home with Rev. Carl Sanders officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be the nephews of Mr. Payne and Wiley Bratcher, Billy Renfroe and Timothy Bush.  Faith Chapel Funeral Home, 100 Beverly Pkwy, is in charge of arrangements.  Friends may call at Faith Chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 28,
