Emma D. Chandler: Emma Jane Chandler was born January 11, 1860 Lookout
Mountain, Tennessee, daughter of Benjamin F. and Catherine (Newell) Chandler.
Emma D. Chandler died May 8, 1940. From Fisher-Pou's obituary: "Emma Jane
Chandler, Pensacola's first artist, past away Wednesday...lived in Pensacola for 73
years...taught art in the schools of Pensacola for many years...survivors: a niece,
Miss Mildred Chandler of New York, and a cousin Dr. Lucius E. Birch of
Tennessee...pallbearers will be: C.M. Wilson, W.R. Runyan, Churchill Mellen, Sam
Pasco Jr., Ed White, and Harry Farris." From their records, Emma was single, 80
years old at time of her death, and the funeral was ordered by Mrs. Charlie Wilson.
She is buried next to her parents in the Chandler family plot.
