Dr. Clement Walter Barfield passed away January 24, 2014 after complications from a stem cell transplant.

He was born October 14, 1941 in Pensacola, FL. He graduated from Pensacola High School in 1959, attended Pensacola Junior College for two years and graduated from Emory University School of Dentistry in 1965. He married Sheila Kirby December 1965 and served as a Captain in the U.S. Army for three years in Frankfurt, Germany. He practiced dentistry in Pensacola from 1968 until he retired for medical reasons in November 2012. Forty of those years were spent at Fairfield Dental Center.

Clem lived life with exuberance. He worked hard and he played hard. He enjoyed many hobbies through the years primarily consisting of golf, sailing, flying, riding motorcycles, fly fishing, and he had a passion for old cars.

Clem was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Turner Barfield, Jr. and Mary Anna Barfield. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Sheila Kirby Barfield; sons, Walter Kees Barfield (Kelly) and Christopher Trent Barfield; five grandchildren, Coulson, Mary Eloise, Megan, Kacee and Kayla; brother, Edward Turner Barfield (Vickie); sister, Carolyn Elizabeth Jackson (John); six nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held 5-7pm Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel.

Funeral Service will be held 11:00am Friday, January 31, 2014 at the Pensacola Beach Community Church with Dr. Tom Garrison and Dr. Chuck Randle officiating. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery.

Active Pallbearers will be Andrew Jackson, Ben Orr, Charlie Terrell, Coulson Barfield, Darren Barfield, Dick Hooton, Jim Mallett and Joshua Weathers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pensacola State College Foundation, 1000 College Blvd., Pensacola, FL 32504 with a notation that it is for the Barfield Family Scholarship Fund.
