Kirby Conrad Smith, 87, a resident of Montgomery, passed away in his home on Friday, February 6, 2015. Kirby is survived by his daughters, Susan Smith Noland (Edwin), Marie Smith, Cary Smith McMillan (Jim); his grandchildren, Alice Hickman Smith (Robert), Erin Hickman Hansen (Todd), Edwin Noland, Patrick Sean Harris (Nicole), Kirby Thornton (Amy), Sarah Noland, Wesley Thornton Breal (Justin), Taylor Thornton; his great-grandchildren, Katelyn Hansen, Jackson Smith, Anna Ryan Hansen, Hunter Hansen, and Ashton Breal; his sister-in-law, Sarah Posey Smith.

He was predeceased by his wife, Sarah Susan Gunn Smith; his parents, Emmett Taylor and Emma Lee Bankhead Smith of West Point, Mississippi; his sister, Ethel Starke; and his brothers, Emmett Smith, William Smith, and James Smith.

He began his real estate appraisal career in 1947 achieving the professional designations of MAI and SRA. He went on to serve as president of the local chapters of the American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers, the Society of Real Estate Appraisers, the International Right of Way Association, and the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers. He retired as a Major from the Army National Guard. He was an active member of First Baptist Church and the Capitol City Kiwanis Club.

Visitation will be held in the parlor at First Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama on Monday, February 9, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. with a memorial service in Stakely Sanctuary to follow at 11:00 a.m. 

Pall Bearers are John Galt, Todd Hansen, Sean Harris, Edwin Noland IV, Kirby Thornton, and Taylor Thornton. Honorary Pall Bearers are T. Bowen Hill, III and the members of the Poundstone Sunday School Class.
