Terry Arthur McGee, 71, passed away on Monday, August 17, 2015, in a local hospital surrounded by his loving family and friends.  He is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Cherie Barrow McGee; son, Rhett E. McGee of Mobile; daighter and son-in-law, Dawn McGee Shadow and Michael Wl Shadow of Brandon, MS; his four grandchildren, William, Macy, Samuel, and Benjamin; his sister, Penny McGee Kopf of Glen Rock, NJ; and many other relatives and friends.  He is preceded in death by his parents Loretta and Clarence McGee, and his brother Ricky McGee.  

Born in Beloit, WI, he attended Saint Mary's High School in Annapolis, MD, and received a degree in Accounting from LaSalle College in Philadelphia, PA.  After graduation he joined the United States Navy, was commissioned as an officer and underwent flight training in Pensacola, FL.  He served with Helicopter Antisubmarine Warfare Squadron 11 (HS-11) at NAS Quonset Point, RI, which deployed on the USS Intrepid and USS Forrestal.  He was also a helicopter flight training instructor with HT-8 at NAS Ellyson Field in Pensacola, FL and flight operations officer aboard the USS Austin. 

Honorably discharged from the Navy in 1977, he and his family moved to Mobile where he worked in the printing industry at Curry Copy Center, 20th Century Printing and PrimeSource.  He retired in 2012 from the Pascagoula School System where he was the graphic arts and printing instructor at the Applied Technology Center for 12 years. 

He was an active member of Le Krewe de Bienville Mardi Gras civic organization for 25 years and was instrumental in promoting Mobile Mardi Gras throughout the southeast.  He was president of the organization and leader of the Mardi Gras ball in 1986.  Having grown up in Maryland, he was an avid fan of thouroughbred horse racing.  He also enjoyed college football, especially SEC teams, and the University of South Alabama Jaguars.  He also recently became interested in research about essential oils and their importance for a health lifestyle 

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, always looking for ways to serve and help others.  His caring presence will be deeply missed by many.
