Lois Anna Dixon was born in Pensacola, Florida, on December 16, 1955, to John Bernard Dixon and his wife Louise (Pfeiffer) Dixon. She was the 4th child in the family.

Lois was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Pensacola. She graduated from Washington High School, University of West Florida (BS in Chemistry), Duke University (MS in Chemistry), and the University of Florida in Gainesville (PHD in Chemistry).

Dr. Dixon was professor of chemistry at The Citadel in Charleston, S. C., taught at Pensacola High School, and held the position of professor of chemistry at Pensacola State College, until her retirement.

Lois was an active church member throughout her life and served as organist at several Lutheran churches, most recently at Trinity Lutheran in Cantonment, FL. She served her Lord in numerous capacities in each of the churches where she worshipped.

On Sunday, November 4, 2018 (All Saints Day Observed), Lois was called to her eternal rest at the age of 62, while preparing to play the organ for the morning’s church service.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, John and Louise Dixon, and her brother, Grady Eugene Dixon. She is survived by her sister Nona (Doug) Schipull; her brother, Ernest (Wanda) Dixon; her nephews, Scot and Joshua Dixon; her nieces, Wendy Dixon Tieck and Rachel Schipull; four great-nephews and one great-niece. She is also survived by her dearest friend, Donna Denham, who unselfishly cared for her during her recent health struggles. She leaves behind, as well, many other friends and associates.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lutheran Braille Workers, Inc., Unit 56, P.O. Box 5000, Yucaipa, CA 92399, or to Trinity Lutheran Church.

The Visitation will begin at 10:00 am on Saturday, November 10, 2018, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2385 Highway 297-A, Cantonment, FL. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 am at the church, with the Rev. Timothy Sowers officiating. Interment will then follow at St. John’s cemetery.
