Dr. Donald Stradley McLeod of Pensacola, FL passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 after a brief illness.

Donald was born in Pensacola, FL on October 18, 1929 to Walter Gay McLeod and Irene Palmas McLeod. He graduated from Pensacola High School in 1948. Upon graduation from high school Donald attended the Citadel in Charleston, SC. While attending the Citadel he joined the US Air Force. After serving in the Air Force he returned to the Citadel and completed his undergraduate degree. Donald attended Temple University School of Dentistry and graduated in the Class of 1960. Upon graduation from dental school, he returned to Pensacola and went into practice with his father, the late Dr. Walter McLeod. He practiced dentistry until his retirement in August 2007.

He was a member of the American Dental Association, Northwest District of Florida Dental Association and Escarosa Dental Society, where he served as president. He was a Trustee on the Board of the Florida Dental Association, a delegate to the American Dental Association and a member of the American Academy of General Dentistry. Donald was a big proponent of continuing dental education; he attended the L.D. Pankey and Dawson Institutes to further his skills to provide the best care for his patients. He was also a member of the Downtown Rotary Club. Donald enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. He was a charter member of the Hit-N-Miss Hunting Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Walter Gay McLeod, Jr. (Marilyn); brother-in-law, Dr. Louis Herrmann; and a sister-in-law, Peggy Caldwell.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Judy; three children, Mac McLeod, Michael McLeod (Tamara) and Katie Dumphy (Tom); also his grandchildren, Kevin and Patrick Dumphy, Tanner and Peyton McLeod; his sister, Doris McLeod Herrmann of Ft. Monroe, VA; his brother-in-laws, Charlie Caldwell (Mary) and Robert Caldwell; as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

Dr. McLeod was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church. A Memorial Mass will be held 2:00pm Monday, May 9, 2016 at St. Paul Catholic Church, 3121 Hyde Park Rd., with Fr. Doug Halsema celebrant. A reception will follow the Mass in the Parish Center.
