After many years of battling Parkinson’s disease, Thomas Born passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2016. He was born to Bleecker Finlay Born and Elizabeth Anne Irwin Born on August 28, 1937. He married Patricia Thornton Born “Pat” in 1957 and they have been together for 57 years. After graduating from Pensacola High School in 1955, Tom took control of the family business established by his grandfather in 1901, Chas. A. Born Company, a wholesale plumbing and supply store. An avid hunter and fisherman, Tom was an original member of  Hit-n-Miss Hunting Club and the Pensacola Billfish Club. At a time when nobody believed billfish lived in the Gulf, Tom wanted to prove them wrong.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Charlotte Born Berkshire.

He is survived by his wife, Pat; children Christine Born Kahane (Stephen), John Bleecker Born and Rachel Born Schill. He also leaves behind his ten grandchildren, Joshua Frederick Kahane (Kenzie), Rebecca Kahane Orman (Patrick), Zachary Emmanuel Kahane, Jacob Daniel Kahane, Leah Michelle Kahane, Madison Crosby Schill, Carolyn Elizabeth Schill, Ethan Gabriel Schill, Mary Pratt Born, Charlotte Hoyt Born and one great-grandchild, Tyler Joseph Orman. In addition, he leaves behind his brother-in-law, Tom Berkshire; nieces, Jennifer Courtney Berkshire, Gretchen Berkshire Conley and Sarah Elizabeth Berkshire.

Visitation will be held 11:00am Thursday, June 16, 2016 followed by the Funeral Service beginning at 12noon at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, with Chaplain Ken Griffin officiating. Burial will follow at St. Johns Cemetery.

Special thanks to his team of caregivers, Debra, John, Debra and Selena, who kept Tom healthy and comfortable for the last year and a half.
