Donald S. Smith, 71, of Pensacola, died Saturday morning, November 24, 1990, in a local hospital after a brief illness.  Mr. Smith was a native and lifelong resident of Pensacola.  He was a member of the East Hill Baptist Church and the Escambia Lodge #15 F& AM.  He was a WWII veteran having served in Europe with the 728th Railway Operating Battalion.  Mr. Smith was a retired conductor from the L&N Railroad, a member of the United Transportation Union and of NARVRE #80.  Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Valerie and David Price; a grandson, Aaron Price, a brother, Thomas E. Smith; several nieces and nephews; and several sisters-in-law.  Services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday in the funeral home with Dr. E. Melton Deason, pastor of East Hill Baptist Church, and Rev. Tim Thompson of St. Mark United Methodist Church officiating.  Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery with graveside Masonic services.  Smith and Sons Memorial Chapel, 7309 W. Hwy 98, directing.  Friends may call at the funeral home from 3 to 6 p.m., Monday.  Escambia Lodge #15 will open at 10 a.m. for members to attend service.  Active pallbearers will be Francis Smith, Jr., Gary Smith, Jeff Smith, Brad Smith, Billy Smith, Melvin White, and Mike Villane.  Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Wise and the retired employees of CSX Railroad.
