Gulf Breeze, FL - Mrs. Joan Frances (Koehler) Stanton, 85, of the Pensacola community, was taken home to our Lord on Tuesday May 8, 2018. She was born in Cass City, MI., on May 21, 1932; daughter of the late Henry Christian and Katherine (Bach) Koehler. She was the beloved wife of John Thomas Stanton Jr. John and Joan were married on the 9th of March, 1956. Joan exemplified the roles of wife, mother, and friend. She was devoted to her beloved husband, her family, her church, her community and served them faithfully throughout her lifetime. She worked for many years as a Teacher's Aide for the Escambia County School Board. Her strong faith was characterized by her service to others and her commitment to the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and later in her supportive service of The Restoration Group. Her great love of music was shared with all as she played the organ for her church congregation and taught piano lessons. One of the greatest joys in her life, was family and she loved every opportunity to gather together. Her dedication and support of family was manifest in the many community, sporting, and scouting activities she attended with her children and grandchildren. Joan enjoyed conversing with others and never seemed to meet a stranger.

In addition to her husband John, she was preceded in death by her parents, brother Max Koehler, and grandson Christopher Scott Stewart. She is survived by, her sister Angela Sieman, daughters, Cyndi K. Mcnabb (son-in-law Jackson), Joy D. Rice (son-in-law Jim) and Susan J. Peaden (son-in-law Dale); sons, John T. Stanton III (daughter-in-law Debra), James D. Stanton (daughter-in-law Maryann); and all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 12th, 2018 at the Faith Chapel South Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the St. Johns Cemetery in Pensacola. The visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Pallbearers are; David H. Stewart, Joseph W. Mason, Jason S. Mcdonald, John T. Stanton IV, James D. Stanton Jr., and Joseph John Stanton.

The family would like to thank the entire staff of the Beacon and Emerald Coast Hospice for their wonderful care.
