Our dear mother, Betty Petree, 92, passed away peacefully at her residence in Pensacola on April 21, 2022.

The daughter of Carl H. McNair, Sr., and Hallie Edwards McNair. Betty graduated from Pensacola High School in 1946 and married the love of her life, Eugene Petree, Jr. before graduation that same year.

She loved her family so and there are so many memories of family togetherness not only at home but travel, cruises, dances, Ocean Towers and so many more. She had so many friends that were considered family as well. Betty was always a numbers person and went to work for Pen Air Federal Credit Union in 1956. She retired as the CEO of Pen Air in 1991. She was then asked to come back to Pen Air and serve on the Board of Directors in 1999 where she served until 2015 when she was made a Director Emeritus. She loved everything about Pen Air where she received many national and local awards for her service. She was also regularly active in so many social and civic organizations with accolades for her service and for that she has numerous awards and thankful letters that we will always treasure. The Pilot Club was one of her special ventures and she was regularly active until a few years ago.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she is preceded in death by her son, Eugene Petree, III and her daughter, Rebecca Boyd.

She is survived by her devoted and loved siblings, Carl H. McNair, Jr. of Springfield, VA and Anita Jane (Pat) Singletary of Birmingham, AL; her children, Lucy (Bill) Hemming, Betty (Randy) Butler, and David Petree. Her grandchildren, Karleen (David) Roll, Jon (Heather) Hemming, Kelly Montanez, Shannon (John) Fable, Renee Daley, Jennifer (Kevin) Kay, Craig Butler, Katelyn Boyd, and Karla Boyd; her nineteen great grandchildren and her four great-great grandchildren; her niece, Courtney McNair Bulger who was instrumental in her care and many nieces, nephews, and cousins that she loved, and she was loved in return.

Visitation will be held 5-7pm Friday, April 29, 2022, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel.

Celebration of Life will be held 11:00am Saturday, April 30, 2022, at Trinity Presbyterian Church on Bayou Blvd., with Dr. Hugh Hamilton and Rev. Frank Beall officiating. A reception will follow at the church.

Betty loved flowers and flowers will be welcomed or donations to honor Betty can be made to The Pilot Club of Pensacola, P.O. Box 965, Pensacola 32591 or your favorite charity.

The family is grateful for the care of Covenant Hospice, her nurses, aids, volunteers, and Chaplain who made this last year comfortable for her. She also had caregivers that loved and cared for her and were loved by Betty and her family. For them all we are grateful.
