Richard Krudop Liveakos, 75, of Pensacola, Florida, passed away on June 5, 2025.

Born on July 4, 1949, in Portsmouth, Virginia, Richard was a gifted musician whose passion for music shaped his life and brought joy to many. He graduated from Tupelo High School in Mississippi in 1967, and later earned a scholarship and degree from the University of Southern Mississippi, majoring in music and communication. He was also a proud member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity.

Richard’s musical journey began early. In the ninth grade, he formed his first band, The Sound of Five, and used his earnings from those early engagements to help pay for his college education—a testament to both his talent and dedication.

An accomplished performer, Richard was best known for founding the iconic Pensacola band, Lazy Day, where his talent and spirit left a lasting mark on fellow musicians and audiences alike.

Richard was also a true raconteur—a natural storyteller with a quick wit and a magnetic presence. He had love for literature, poetry and history, and masterfully wove all these passions into his stories. Whether recounting a tale from his travels, offering a clever observation, or sharing the perfect pairing of words and wine, Richard’s conversations were always rich, entertaining, and full of life. His warmth and humor lit up every room he entered.

Beyond music and conversation, Richard was a devoted wine connoisseur, with a true appreciation for its craft and culture. He found joy in sharing a good bottle with friends and even greater joy in the stories that came with it.

Richard will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his devoted partner of 35 years, Gloria Lind; his two sisters, Merrell Rogers and Laura Colatrella; his son, Barrett Liveakos; his four grandchildren; many other family members; and friends too numerous to count. He was predeceased by his parents, Gust and Ruth Krudop Liveakos.

Funeral services will be held at St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church on June 16, 2025, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. followed by a private family-only internment, and a reception to follow at 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Seville Quarter.
