Died of Bright's disease is an archaic term for what is now referred to as 'nephritis'. Nephritis is an inflammation of the kidneys, caused by toxins, infection or autoimmune conditions. It is not strictly a single disease, rather a condition with a number of types and causes.

John Shelman has a CSA marker saying Pvt. Confederate States Army, Co. B., with tombstone saying "Father". John Shelman Daniels first married September 8, 1870 in Escambia County to Hattie E. Hillard. John and Hattie Daniels are found in the 1870, 1880 and 1885 census of Pensacola with children Eva E.(1871-1887), Harry S.(b. ca1875), Hattie (1877-1948; married James K. McCaskill; buried 4-57), Mattie (1879-1880), and Robert B. Daniels (1881-1896). First wife Hattie E. Daniels died in 1887. John S. Daniels second marriage was September 24, 1896 to widow Lena D. Wedgworth. He and Lena Daniel are listed in the 1900 Escambia County census with their son John Daniel Jr. (b. Oct. 1897 FL). John S. Daniels died July 20, 1908. He shares a headstone with his second wife Lena D. Boghich. Widow Lena married Francis Antonio Boghich. Also buried in John S. Daniels family plot are Hattie Daniels (first wife of John S. Daniel), daughter Eva E. Daniels, son Robert B. Daniels, James A. Wedgworth and his wife Mae Q. Wedgworth, Lena Wedgworth, Mattie L. Daniels, and Mary C. Daniel (last three small graves).
