Residing in the Little Bayou Chico community, Isaac was a ship captain.  His obituary said he was in the “life saving service”, which he retired from, and a member of the Damon Lodge, No. 13.  In Escambia County on March 17, 1886, Isaac Appelberg was married to Esther Annie Peake.  Isaac and Esther Appelberg were the parents of five known children: Carol Otto (married Ellen Clarke), Helen Olivia (1893-1975; married Frank McGill Nelson moving to Bay County), Hazel Esther (married Edgar M. Linville), Athniel Gustaf (1899-1970; moved to Bay County), and Annie Louisa Appelberg (born August 5, 1901).  Captain Isaac Appelberg died August 11, 1906.  His obituary appeared in the Journal on Sunday, August 12, 1906.   His estate papers says his widow Etta A. Appelberg to receive and his five minor children.   Captain Isaac Appelberg is buried next to his wife Esther Annie Appelberg Pyles.
