Arrie O. Godwin was born December 26, 1896, Escambia County, Florida, son of John D. and Amelia Godwin. His wife was Sybil (maiden name unknown). They were the parents of Barbara and Alvin O. Godwin. Arrie O. Godwin died September 2, 1943. From Fisher-Pou records, Arrie was the son of John Godwin and his wife Amelia Linton; his wife was Sybil Godwin; he was Assistance Police Chief. His obituary: "Arrie O. Godwin... WWI veteran...18 years with Pensacola Police Department... survivors: wife Sybil Godwin; mother; three brothers, Robert, Hudie and John Godwin; sister Mrs. Lena Steele." He is buried next to his wife Sybil Godwin Simmons, brother Robert E. Godwin and his wife Jeannette Godwin, (one stone), John H. Godwin, Alvin O. Godwin and his wife Ruth B. Godwin (one stone). Sybil Godwin Simmons: Sybil (maiden name unknown) was born January 27, 1905. She married Arrie O. Godwin. They were the parents of Barbara and Alvin Godwin. After Arrie died in 1943, Sybil must have remarried for she died September 22, 1993 as Sybil Godwin Simmons. From Journal Friday September 24: "Sybil Godwin Simmons, 88...died Thursday...at the home of her daughter...native of Pensacola... survivors: daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Ira Ward; daughter-in-law Ruth Godwin; ten grandchildren ...Faith Chapel Funeral in charge." She is buried next to her husband Arrie O. Godwin in the Godwin family plot.

Sybil Godwin Simmons:  Sybil (maiden name unknown) was born January 27, 1905. She was first married to Arrie O. Godwin, and the mother of daughter Barbara and son Alvin O. Godwin.  After Mr. Godwin died, Sybil married Doyle Simmons (per her son’s obituary).  Sybil Godwin Simmons died September 22, 1993.  From Journal Friday September 24: “Sybil Godwin Simmons, 88...died Thursday…at the home of her daughter…native of Pensacola… survivors: daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Ira Ward; daughter-in-law Ruth Godwin; ten grandchildren…Faith Chapel Funeral in charge.”   She is buried next to her first husband Arrie O.
