Charles Hoffman was born February 11, 1840 Treves, Germany. He married Eva Barbara White. Before moving to Pensacola, Charles and Eva Hoffman lived in Lauderdale County, Mississippi where they are listed in the 1870 census and where their children were born. Known twelve children of Charles and Eva Hoffman: Elizabeth (1859-1945), Caroline "Carrie" (1860-1944; married Fritz Zerr; buried 2-19), Lena (1862-1938; married Mr. Wedgworth, then John S. Daniel, then Frank A. Boghich; buried 1-3), Charles J. (b.1865), Ida M. (1868-1962; married Wm M. Barnette, buried 1-3), George (b. May 1870), Agnes (1874- 1966; married Wm H. Caro; buried 1-3), Mary (1875-1965; married George Heiter), Fritz/Fredrick (b.ca June 1877), William F. (.b. Feb. 1880), Aloysious Roug Hoffman (son b. April 13, 1882), and Florentine Hoffman (b. March 1888; married Mr. Batson). Charles Hoffman died February 12, 1890. From Daily News, Thurs, February 13: "Sudden death of Mr. Charles Hoffman, a merchant doing business at the corner of East Chase and Tarragona street died yesterday morning...member of Bay Lodge 2505, Knights of Honor...burial this afternoon." He is buried next to his wife, daughter Mary Hoffman Heiter and her husband George Heiter (one stone), daughter Elizabeth Hoffman Smith and her husband Harry A. Smith (one stone), Salena Smith Wilson, Frankie Smith, and infant grandsons Henry Clinton Hoffman, Stephen Charles Hoffman and Charles Horace Hoffman.
