Mary Beggs was born February 8, 1901, daughter of E.D. Beggs and his wife Lily Clubbs. She married James Aitcher Johnston. Mary Beggs Johnston died October 3, 1980. From Journal Saturday October 4: "Mary Beggs Johnson died Friday...native...daughter of late Judge and Mrs. E.D. Beggs and granddaughter of late A.V. Clubbs... graduate of Pensacola High School, Florida State College for Women, University of Michigan...taught in public schools in Jacksonville, Orlando and Pensacola, and was head of History Department at Pensacola High School from 1937 until her retirement in 1956... survivors: her husband James A. Johnston; two sisters, Miss Annie Beggs and Mrs. Emily Beggs Murphy of Pensacola; brother E. Dixie Beggs of Pensacola...Fisher-Pou directing." She is buried next to her husband in the Beggs family plot.
