From Fisher Pou Funeral Home records, his father was James Alfred Bazzell and his mother was Mary C. (Charity) Brown.  He was younger brother of William Bazzell (2-15)   James Bazzell was a ship pilot and Captain.  He was married in Escambia County on February 17, 1890 to Gertrude Clifford.  James and Gertrude Bazzell were the parents of six known children: Edward (b.ca1891), Isabelle (1894-1967), Gertrude (1895-1993), Florida (1897-1902), Blanch (b.ca1899; married Mr. Brooks), and Samuel L. Clifford Bazzell (1907-1970).

                James Alfred Bazzell died April 27, 1939.  Buried in Bazzell family plot with his wife Gertrude Clifford Bazzell (one stone), daughter Gertrude Bazzell, daughter Florida Bazzell, son Samuel L.C. Bazzell, and Nancy C. Brown Bazzell-Graves, Isabell Bazzell Hawkins-Robertson and her husband Russell T. Robertson.
