Kathlyn Medora Monroe was born October 29, 1896 in Freeport, Florida, daughter of William and Madora (McCraine) Monroe. A graduate of Florida State College for Women, she taught Latin at Pensacola High School from 1920 until her retirement in 1966. Upon her retirement, the main auditorium at Pensacola High School was named in her honor. Kathlyn Medore Monroe died February 3, 1979, buried in the W.A. Monroe family plot.
