Henry Lee Bell , known as “Lee”, was born November 2, 1873, son of Charles P. and Zoe (Aymard) Bell. At age fourteen, Lee became interested in photography, working under local photographer George Turton. A graduate from a photographer’s school in Washington D.C., Lee returned to Pensacola in 1911, opening his studio on South Palafox Street. He owned and operated his shop for 39 years. Lee did his best work indoors, controlling and diffusing the lights. The glass plate photographs from Lee’s studio were donated to the Special Collection Department of John C. Pace Library at University of West Florida. H. Lee Bell died December 10, 1949, buried in the Charles P. Bell family plot.
