Miss Maud taught privately here in the 1890’s, transferring to the old School No. 1.  When the school was burned, she taught in the temporary school on the present site of Waters & Hibbert Funeral Home.  After 35 years of teaching, Miss Maud Suter retired in 1941 as head of the history department at Pensacola High School.  Miss Maud Suter died June 21, 1953, buried next to her mother and sister .
