Haywood Ruffin Thornton was born January 16, 1899.  He was a bank auditor, coming to Pensacola where he married Dorothy Beers Runyan  on December 23, 1925.  They were the parents of two children: Haywood Ruffin Thornton Jr. and Ruth Runyan Thornton.  Haywood Ruffin Thornton died December 28, 1965, buried in the A.H. Runyan family plot next to his wife.
