She married Charles Hayden Wheat, parents of four known children.  Ethel I. Wheat died October 12, 1978.  From the Journal on Saturday, October 14: “Ethel Wheat, 86, of 1322 E. Gadsden Street, died Thursday…native of Alliance, Neb…resident of Pensacola the last 70 years…member of the First United Methodist Church…a licensed practical nurse and wife of the late Charles H. Wheat… survivors: three daughters: Stella Halt of VA, Laura L. Fanning of Pensacola, and Ethel G. Blake of CA; two sisters: Lois Whitwill of Pensacola, and Alice Henderson of Miami; Brother Willard Butler of Texas…Fisher-Pou in charge…burial in St. John’s cemetery.”  She is buried next to her husband and son.
