Sibyl Cooper Nellums, 89, passed away Saturday, January 8, 2011.  Sibyl was born in Stamps, Arkansas March 5, 1921 to Will and Anne Cooper.  Her family moved to Pensacola, Florida in 1929.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband, W. C, "Bill" Nellums in 2010 and two sisters, Emily "Nita" Dickson and Margaret Annelle "Nell" Kelson.  Survivors include two brothers, W. T. Cooper and Marbury Cooper and two sisters, Mary Boyette and Sara Diamond.  Survivors also include numerous nieces and nephews, whose lives she touched in many ways.  Upon graduating Pensacola High School, Sibyl worked at Newberry's Department in ladies accessories.  In 1943 she worked for Civil Service with the U.S. Department of the Navy.  She was the senior administrator for many admirals who commanded Chief of Naval Air Basic Training (CNABTRA) for thirty years.  She retired in 1977 with many awards recognizing her professionalism and contributions to the various jobs throughout her successful career.  Upon retiring in 1977, Aunt Sibyl and Uncle Bill moved into their home they built on South Second Street.  They were lifelong members of First Baptist Church of Pensaola and participated in many church functions.  Services will  be held at Waters and Hibbert Funeral Home on Thursday, January 13, 2011.  Visitation will begin at 9:30 am.  Funeral services will be at 11 am in the chapel.  Pastor Barry Howard of The First Baptist Church of  Pensacola will conduct the service. The family wishes to thank Dr. Adelaida Torres and her staff for the comfort and compassion given to Aunt Sibyl.  We also want to thank the nurses from Emeral Coast Hospice for their services.  The family extends a special thanks to the caregivers from Granny Nannies: Linda, Tonya and Rose for always providing care with dignity for Aunt Sibyl.  In lieu flowers, donations may be made in Sibyl's name to a charity of your choice.  Waters & Hibbert Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
