Vernon Lee (Doc) Bowman 1913-2001, 87, of Pensacola, passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2001 at a local hospital after an extended illness.  Vernon was born in Escambia City, FL on December 29, 1913 to Fletcher S. Bowman and Lillian M. Krause.  He was a graduate of Texas Chiropractic College and was a practicing Chiropractor for 27 years.  He enjoyed working in his pecan orchard until a farm accident in 1987 curtailed his activities.  He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on the gasoline tanker Ranger.  Vernon had a good knowledge of and could relate many stories and facts about Pensacola's history.  He was a charter  member of Gateway Church of Christ (formerly West Hill Church).  Survivors include his devoted and loving wife of 55 years, Ruby Lee Bowman; a loving and caring daughter and son-in-law, Madeline Lee and Jimmie Graves; three grandchildren, Tracy (Joseph) Holt, Andrew Willson and Crystal Willson; two great-grandchildren and  number of nieces, nephews and cousins.   Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 15,2001 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Mitchel Hatcher of Bellview Church of Christ officiating. Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery, "G" Street.  Faith Chapel Funeral Home, 100 Beverly Pkwy, is in charge of arrangements.  Pallbearers will be Elward Brantley, George Haber, Ed Hammic and Frank Thoman.
