John Calvin Dixon, 85, of Pensacola, died Wednesday, October 30, 1996 in a local hospital following a brief illness.  Mr. Dixon was a native of Dixon's Mills, AL, and had been a resident of Pensacola since 1928.  Mr. Dixon was a member of Innerarity Point Baptist Church and a life member of West Pensacola Masonic Lodge #296 F&AM.  He retired as a Civil Service employee from NAS Pensacola in 1972.  Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Doris Merritt Dixon; two daughters, Dixiana Gothard, Linda and her husband, Bill Sharp; granddaughter, Melanie Sharp; grandson, Ron Banta; sister, Lenora Shannon; numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.  Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday at Innerarity Point Baptist Church with the Rev. Wallace Nichols officiating.  Active pallbearers will be Capt. W.R. Sisley, Mr. Andrew Voss, Mr. Marco White, Mr. Ricky Lightkep, Mr. Jere French and Mr. Bill Smith.  Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Senior Men's Bible Class: Mr. J.L.Lively, Sr., Mr. Ralph Shipman, Mr. Wells Kennedy, Mr. Jimmy Dixon, Mr. Donald Beane, Mr. Cecil Powell, Mr. Horace Turner, Mr. Charles Banta.  Harper-Morris Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.  Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Innerarity Point Baptist Church Building Fund in his name.
