Kathleen Inez Drake was born July 25, 1908, daughter of Robert Elmar and Alice (King) Drake. After school in DeFuniak, she attended and graduated from Southern Business University in Atlanta, Georgia. In 1927, she accepted a job in Pensacola with Southern Cotton Oil Company. In 1938, Kathleen became a private secretary with Fisher Brown Insurance Company, where she retired in July 1970. When her youngest brother Rex died in 1945, leaving two small children, "Aunt Kitty" also became their grandmother and best friend. Kathleen Inez Drake died December 23, 1997, buried next to her mother and brother in the Drake family plot.
