Melba Headrick Harper died Friday, April 21, 2000 in a local hospital after a short illness, although she had been in poor health for a long time.  She was a native of  Huntsville, AL and had lived in Pensacola for many years.  She was the widow of Raymond Harper, long time City of Pensacola Police Department official.  Mrs. Harper retired as a Supervisor of Southern Bell.  She was a member of First Baptist Church and enjoyed cooking and plants.  She is survived by two nephews, Jimmy and Dale Patton, and several nieces.  Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, April 24, 2000 in Harper-Morris Chapel with the Rev. Bill Santo officiating.  Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.  Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.  The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday.
