Charles Buxton Mitchell, Jr. 1929-2004 died unexpectedly at his residence in Pensacola, FL, October 20, 2004. He was a lifetime resident born on October 13, 1929. Charlesl was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Buxton Mitchell and Jessie Hall Mitchell. He is survived by his wife of twenty-four years, Lucy Thomas Mitchell, and her children, Greg Lang, Peter Lang and Vicki Warren. Also surviving are his brother, Wilmer Hall Mitchell and his wife, Edna, and his sister, Jane Mitchell Scott and husband, Laurence Clyde Scott. Charles graduated from Pensacola High School in 1948 and from Pensacola Junior College in 1950. After serving two years in the U.S. Army he graduated from the University of Florida in 1958 with a B.A. in Business Administration. He was retired from employment in the insurance and real estate fields. "Uncle Charlie's" active pallbearers will be his nephews: John Raby Williams, husband of Kelly McGraw Williams; Douglas Blount Mitchell, husband of Leigh Raines Mitchell; Scott Hall Mitchell; Charles Buxton Mitchell, husband of Jennifer Turner Mitchell; and Clifton Payne Mitchell, husband of Candace Gale Mitchell. William Charles Carlson, husband of niece, Louise Williams Carlson will also serve as a pallbearer. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerome Bush Browder, Brian Hamilton Kinzig, Jack Lee Lowery, husband of niece, Patricia Lee Lowery, and Scott Clinn Ellyson, husband of niece, Sara Scott Ellyson. The Funeral will be Tuesday, October 26, 2004 at 11:a.m. in St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, 3200 N.12th Ave., Pensacola. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, 301 North G Street. Harper-Morris is in charge of arrangements. |
