Don E. Robinson,82, of Pensacola died Saturday, January 10, 2009. Don was born on August 17, 1926 in Coral Gables, FL to Colonel William and Nell Robinson. He attended the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago, IL, receiving his degree in music composition. As a free lance composer, his works have been performed throughout the southeast and included in many contemporary programs. Several of his works were published including nine hymns and choral pieces in "Song of Rejoicing" in 1989. His "A Magnificat" received the top award granted in the 1991 Choral Composition Competition in Los Angeles, CA. Don was an accomplished composer and pianist. He was an active member of The Choral Society, Pensacola Music Study Club, Gulf Coast Choral and a member of the Southeast Composer League, and Society of Composers. Don was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. Many of his compositions reflected his faith. Don served in the US Army, and was employed by the Federal Government and worked at the Pentagon. Through the years he enjoyed his pet cats, travel, tennis and the beach, but above all he loved his wife, Louise, whom he shared his love of life and music with for 60 years. His parents, William and Nell Robinson preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Louise M. Robinson of Pensacola; sons Martin Robinson (Anita), Paul Robinson (Cheryl) of Gainesville, FL; grandchildren Paula Parker (Steve) of North Carolina, Elise and Gina Robinson of Gaineville, FL; great grandchidren Tyler and Sidney Parker of North Carolina; sister Suzanne Tyler of Ft. Myers, FL. Prayers will be given at 10:00am followed by Funeral. Mass will be celebrated at 10:30am Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at St. Michael's Catholic Church. Rev. Msgr. Martin Muller and Fr. Peter A. McLaughlin will be celebrants. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery. Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. |
